A team member likely had to look up the vendor, determine which document category applied, navigate to the appropriate upload process, and then notify others that the upload was complete. These activities required separate tool interactions and depended on the person remembering the correct document classification.
How it works
- Present a Slack menu so the user can choose the document category to send.
- Search for the configured vendor and automatically route the request according to the selected category.
- Upload the document to the vendor record in Drata and notify the relevant Slack channel when the upload is complete.
Workflow details
- Guided selection: The workflow begins by presenting a Slack menu with three document options: compliance report, compliance report review, and bridge letter.
- Vendor lookup: After the user makes a selection, the workflow searches the Drata vendor directory using the configured vendor search term, shown as Sophos in this definition, and retrieves the matching vendor record.
- Automated routing: A decision step maps the selected document category to the appropriate upload path, distinguishing between compliance reports, compliance report reviews, and bridge letters.
- Document submission: The workflow sends the selected document type to the matched vendor's document area in Drata using the corresponding category.
- Completion notification: Once the upload step finishes, the workflow sends a Slack message indicating that the upload has been completed.
What changed
The document category is selected through one guided Slack interaction, while vendor lookup, category-based routing, upload initiation, and completion notification happen as connected workflow steps. The user still makes the document-type choice, but no longer needs to coordinate the subsequent upload and status handoff manually.
Work removed
Manually searching for the configured vendor, selecting the corresponding upload category in a separate process, initiating the vendor document upload, and sending a separate completion notification.
Expected outcome
Conservatively, the workflow removes at least two separate tool handoffs per upload by combining vendor lookup, document submission, and completion notification into one guided process.
