Before
An operator would likely configure each account individually, obtain the required authorization scopes, and update POP and IMAP settings manually. They would then create a forwarding address, apply the forwarding rules, and repeat the same sequence for every account.
How it works
- The workflow receives an emailhook event, prepares the configured account list, and processes each account sequentially.
- It obtains the required authorization tokens and applies the POP and IMAP settings while retaining messages in the inbox.
- It creates the forwarding address and enables auto-forwarding for each account using the second authorization scope.
Workflow details
- Trigger and account iteration: An emailhook event starts the workflow, which prepares a configured list of four account identifiers and processes them one at a time.
- Initial authorization and mail settings: For each account, the workflow requests an authorization token with the required basic settings scope, then enables POP access for all mail while leaving messages in the inbox and enables IMAP with automatic expunging.
- Forwarding authorization: The workflow requests a second authorization token with the settings-sharing scope so the forwarding configuration can be applied separately from the initial mail settings.
- Forwarding address creation: Using the second token, it creates a forwarding address with an accepted verification status for the account.
- Automatic forwarding activation: The workflow enables auto-forwarding to the configured forwarding address and keeps the forwarded messages in the account's inbox, completing the setup for each item in the list.
What changed
Account setup now runs as a consistent sequential workflow after the trigger instead of requiring an operator to repeat the full configuration sequence for each account. Authorization, mail-setting updates, forwarding-address creation, and auto-forwarding activation are performed automatically, with each account retaining forwarded messages in its inbox.
Work removed
Obtaining separate authorization tokens, updating POP settings, updating IMAP settings, creating forwarding addresses, setting accepted verification status, enabling auto-forwarding, and repeating these actions for each account.
Expected outcome
The four configured account entries can complete the same forwarding and mail-settings setup in one automated run, removing four repeatable account setup cycles without claiming a specific time saving.
