Before
A user would likely need to rewrite a basic idea into a detailed image prompt, submit the command in the image-generation workspace, and wait while checking recent messages for the result. They would then copy the generated image and prompt details back into Slack and manually submit an upscale command when that option became available.
How it works
- Receive the image idea, create a Slack status message, and send the idea for contextual prompt enhancement.
- Convert the enhanced text into an image-generation prompt, submit it, and poll recent messages until an image result is available.
- Update Slack with the generated image and automatically issue an upscale request when the returned controls indicate that one is available.
Workflow details
- Request intake: A webhook receives the user's original image idea and the destination Slack channel, then creates a Slack message showing the original prompt and placeholders for the enhanced prompt and image result.
- Prompt enhancement: The original idea is sent to an AI completion service with instructions to add substantial context for an image engine. The returned text is converted into a Midjourney-ready prompt and given a quality parameter before being added to the Slack message.
- Image generation: The enriched prompt is submitted through a Discord interaction as an image-generation command, followed by timed waits while the image service processes the request.
- Result monitoring: The workflow repeatedly reads recent messages, checks whether an image attachment is available, extracts the image URL and status information, and updates the original Slack message with the generated result.
- Upscale handling: The workflow evaluates the returned message components for an upscale control and, when one is detected, submits an upscale command and continues waiting for the resulting processing before completion.
What changed
The original Slack request now starts an end-to-end process that enriches the prompt, submits the image command, monitors for an image attachment, and updates the same Slack message with the result. Upscale availability is checked automatically, so the human no longer needs to move between Slack and the image-generation workspace for routine follow-up.
Work removed
Rewriting basic image ideas into detailed prompts, submitting image-generation commands, repeatedly checking recent messages, copying image URLs and prompt details into Slack, and manually sending an upscale command when available.
Expected outcome
Conservatively, at least four recurring manual actions are removed per image request, while the prompt, image result, and any detected upscale follow-up are kept connected to the originating Slack message.
